Match report The first game of the season was played on a fine, but cool, evening at The Lee. For many of the under 10 team this was their first ever hardball game. Captain Sam Smith won the toss and elected to bat first.

The teams running between the wickets and calling were really good, so there were no runouts, but the Winchmore Hill team had some fine bowlers, and The Lee's total was diminished by the loss of ten wickets during the innings (mainly bowled and a couple of catches). They ended up posting a total of 241.

The Lee's fielding was good, and special mention has to go to Callum Burchett, who stopped a sure-fire boundary cover drive by blocking it with his knee (ouch!). Callum was brave enough to resume fielding after a few minutes with the ice pack.

The Winchmore Hill team were very good at defending their wickets, only losing two during the innings. They had some big hitters in at last pair, and they set upon the accurate bowling of Felix Gibson and Robert Walsh to post a final score of 316.

So, the first match of the season ended up with a diappointing defeat, but with some excellent cricket played and a lot of valuable lessons learned it was a good evening for everyone.
