The Lee Cricket Club Sun XI v Dinton on Sun 29 Apr 2007 at 2.00pm
The Lee Cricket Club Won by 71 runs.
Match report
Good weather saw The Lee Cricket Club don their whites and rifle to their second successive win of the season at The Manor Ground. The Lee won the toss and decided to bat first hoping that they could carry on the success of the same the previous week. The batting started extremely quickly and with runs coming thick and fast it looked like a glorious start then a nice little bobble up saw the end of the opening partnership however in came Peter Neal and on came more runs. Jerry Kempe eventually fell just missing out on his maiden century for the club on his debut by just 2 runs. That however did not stop Pete as he carried on through rattling up the runs really quickly and eventually edging his way to 167 not out which surpassed the club's individual batting record set by Mike Lapham by 2 runs. After that fantastic display of cricket it also helped The Lee to a new club record of 365-3.
Dinton however did not seem that phased by the huge total they had to chase down needing 366 runs to win. With exception of one of their openers the top of the order fell reasonable quickly and it was not until a young K. Burrows came to the crease and just decided he had had enough and with a superb display scored 138 not out and putting some fight back into Dinton. Chris Hall took a superb 5 wicket haul and to top of his day Peter Neal took 2 slip catches and also took a wicket. Unfortunately after their stellar fight back Dinton were eventually reduced to 294-9 at the close of play.
