The Lee Cricket Club U13 XI v Chalfont St Peter on Sun 18 May 2014 at 10:00
The Lee Cricket Club Won by 3 wickets
Match report
A lovely sunny morning at Little Missenden. Chalfont St Peter were put in to bat first. Only 4 runs off the bat in the first 4 overs and one sharp run out but wides were top scoring with 12. On came Matt and Zach and 4 overs later 4 more wickets were down for only 10 additional runs – Matt bowled two, Zach had two caught. 3 wickets from Jack (bowled) and John (2 caught) in the next 2 overs brought the score to 30 for 8 and it was looking like a superb bowling and fielding performance. The opposition had hidden their best player at No.7 though, and he pushed the score along briskly for 8 overs until Jack had him caught behind. Next over Sam added a second run-out to his 2 catches to close the innings on 78 all out. A slightly below-par target but the outfield was long and slow.
Ben swears he was still taking guard when the first ball of The Lee's innings bowled him. He had to walk though and took it well. 2 overs later the same bowler had Jack caught and we were 8 for 2. Felix held down one end well though, while Matt (11) Sam (13, including a couple of trade-mark boundaries) and Robert all added runs before each holing out to catches. When Felix eventually went for 18 it was looking tight at 65 for 6 but Zach (12no) stepped in and stroked the winning shots with 10 balls to spare.
A good performance in our first league match, especially in the field, where we looked sharp.
