The Lee Cricket Club U18 XI v Holmer Green on Tue 26 Jun 2018 at 18:00
The Lee Cricket Club Won by 9 wickets
Match report
On a hot, June evening, the boys arrived back for their first Colt's game in 2 years.
The regular warm up of a game of football and a quick look at the wicket led to Rob losing the Toss and being forced to bowl first.
Opening the bowling, Rob and Matt offered very limited scoring opportunities and took a wicket a piece early on. These two tight spells provided the perfect platform for new signing, Henry King and fan favourite, James Galvin to come in and go to town on their middle order. James narrowly avoided a jug by taking 4 wickets with 3 of them being caught by new man Henry King (who also took 2 wickets of his own). Some good overs followed from Sam, Zach and Ollie which helped to restrict scoring and a great death over from Matt meant we bowled them out for a respectable total of 132.
After a quick turn around, Ben Harris and Henry took the crease to begin our chase. With the sun setting, some good bowling meant we were restricted to 13 runs of 4 overs. Ben and Henry looked to up the run rate with Henry unluckily getting dismissed by a great ball. In stepped Felix who supported Ben excellently thoughout the rest of the innings. Ben, who had been playing all day for Bucks, showed no signs of tiring, he went on to score an unbeaten and Career high 79 not out including 13 fours and 1 huge six onto the roof of the pavilion. Felix scored a mature 21 and was superb at rotating the strike. We required 1 run off the last 2 overs and Ben had us waiting on the edge of our seats. 3 balls passed before he creamed a four over the bowlers head!
A great start to the season followed by some quality barbecuing from the Garvie's meant it was a thoroughly enjoyable evening for all!
