The Lee Cricket Club News story

The Lee CC - Junior Cricket update June '22

16 Jun 2022

Hi all,

We’re now six weeks into the Junior Cricket season at The Lee CC – it’s been great to see everyone enjoying playing cricket and a warm welcome to all the new players who have joined this year.

Friday Night Kwik Cricket (Year 1/U6 to Year 6/U11)

… The place to be on a Friday night!

We’ve had excellent numbers turning out each week across the age groups which is great to see and thank you for making good use of the bar and BBQ - this really helps to support the club as well as providing a great way to start the weekend. If you haven’t already, please sign up to take a turn on the Bar and BBQ. LCC Bar and BBQ Sign up sheet

A reminder to please ensure players turn up on time (18.00 start), ready to take part in appropriate sports kit/footwear and with a water bottle.

We do ask that parents are around for the duration of the coaching and please introduce yourself to the coaches. If for some reason this is not the case, please ensure the coaches are aware and know who is responsible for your child.

Saturday Morning Colts (Year 5/U10 to Year 10/U15)

The extra space we’ve generated by splitting the age groups between The Lee CC and Little Missenden Misfits CC this season is working well and (I think) everyone has turned up at the correct location each week too!

Coaches

A big thank you to all the volunteers who help coach/manage across the age groups for both Friday Night Kwik Cricket and Saturday Morning Colts – it simply wouldn’t happen without you! We are always looking for new volunteers, especially in the U6/U7 and U8 (Yr 1/2 and 3) age groups, so please speak to the coaches on the night or drop me a note – it is very rewarding and fun!

Membership

Thank you to those who have paid so far and reminder below of how to pay if you haven’t yet…. once you have decided The Lee CC is for you after a few trial sessions, this really needs to be in place to make sure we are covered for insurance etc.

Our membership fees have remained unchanged for this season:

  • £90 - for Family membership with one player (junior or adult) (plus £20 for each additional playing member)
  • £50 - for single membership 16-21 year olds (or those still in full-time education)
  • £10 - for family social membership (with no players)

The easiest way to renew is by logging in and using the 'My Payments' part of our website - this allows secure online card payments to be taken. Payment can also be taken at the bar.

For any queries on membership, please contact our membership secretary York Woodford-Smith (Yorkaws@gmail.com).

Date for the Diary

The Lee Flower Show weekend when the ground will be unavailable – so there will be no Friday Night Kwik Cricket on Friday 15th July. We will confirm the plans for Saturday Colts on Saturday 16th July at Little Missenden Misfits CC via team managers.

The Chiltern Cluster

The Chiltern Cluster is running again as a joint effort between four local clubs to provide all girl cricket for those who might enjoy it. It is as-well-as, not instead of, practicing and playing mixed cricket with their home club and the idea is that the girls can do as much or as little of each as they want.

For further details please contact Patrick Walsh (patrick_a_walsh@hotmail.co.uk) or Neil Hollister (nhollister@btinternet.com).

Kit Swap / Kit

The kit shop / swap has been a great success and I know many will have picked up a bargain! If you have any kit that could be donated, please bring it along.

For those playing in matches we would request that cricket whites are worn.

For club kit we use Chiltern Sports https://www.chilternsports.co.uk/ (The Bucks Goat Centre, Old Risborough Road, Stoke Mandeville, Aylesbury, HP22 5XJ – Tel 01296 613399) where shirts, hoodies, training tops etc can be ordered. They are very knowledgeable, have a good selection of equipment to work with your budget and offer advice on the fit of bats etc. Don’t forget to mention you are from The Lee CC if you do visit them!

Safeguarding

If there is anything we should know about any player or if you have any safeguarding queries, please contact Pam Batty (pambatty@btinternet.com).

If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact me.

All the best,

Neil Binns
