Match report This week the boys headed to Hemel Hempstead for what has proven to be a tough away fixture over the last couple of years. After winning the toss and batting first, The Lee quickly found themselves 2 down for not many, with Mike unfortunately missing out on the chance of a double ton weekend. Jules and Stephen steadied the ship before Steve chipped a dolly to midwicket just before drinks. Jules then finally found the middle of the bat, hitting numerous 6s before edging to the keeper on 94. When ‘Gary’ Rice was out to a stunning boundary catch, it looked like we’d fall well short of a good score. Sam and Nathan then batted very well to ensure we reached a slightly below par 192.

At the start of the 2nd innings, The Lee managed to keep the run rate down with some accurate bowling and tight fielding. Boxmoor required 130 runs off the last 20 overs and began to up the scoring rate, with Ed being given the run around on the boundary, testing out his newly healed hamstring. Our impressive ringer, Nathan, came back for his 2nd spell and showed there are some very promising youngsters, conceding only 26 in 8 overs in a tight run chase at 12 years old was exceptional! Unfortunately dad wasn’t on the same page, and conceded 12 from his only over. Boxmoor’s opener progressed to a painfully slow but ultimately match-winning 50, and showed the value of batting long. When Jules was denied a tight stumping late in the day, the Boxmoor players took toll and with some clean late hitting managed to chase down The Lee’s score with 5 wickets and 6 balls left. Massive congratulations once again to Nathan, who made a great debut.
