The Lee Cricket Club U9X v Chesham on Sun 03 Jun 2018 at 10am
The Lee Cricket Club Lost By 62 Runs
Match report
3-Jun-2018: Lee CC U9 X vs Chesham home
Result
• 310-3 Chesham
• 248-7 Lee
• The Lee lost by 62 runs.
• I wasn’t there as doing a rugby coaching course.
Analysis
• We scored 48 runs vs their 53 runs (-5 runs) [somewhere in between Games 1 & 2]
• We gave away 73 runs on wides/no balls, they did 41 runs (-32 runs) [our worst performance if the 3 games so far]
• We lost 7 wkts vs their 3 wkts (-24 runs)
• This contributed overall to a 62 run defeat. Our batting was OK but accuracy of bowling was not as good as Game 1 – particularly the line (rather than the length).
Areas to work on
Seems like lots to work on but they kids are improving every Friday!
• Bowling then stopping – a few are now doing this but most bowlers do not continue to run down wicket after releasing ball
• Bowling – being able to get it on target and to pitch it on an 18 yard pitch. Focus on line more than length.
• Calling – calling was sporadic – batters must call Yes or No clearly, if goes behind batter the non-striking batter must call. We could have got a few more runs had we called quickly.
• Not hitting wides (remember - if you hit a wide ball, it won’t be given as a wide). This time we possibly left a few too many wide-ish balls that we could have scored from
• Batting – score more runs
o we scored 48 runs off 120 balls total = 2.4 runs per over [3.2 in Game 2]
o we scored 48 runs off 92 balls that were not wides or wickets = 3.1 runs per good over [NB there is no extra ball for a wide, except in the last over] [4.4 in Game 2]
• Wicket keeping – ensure we are ready to stop byes – don’t stand too close to stumps
• Run outs – they are now seeing the opportunity – just need to get the ball in quickly and ensure backing up at both ends.
