10 Sep 2017 : League season comes to a close
League season comes to a closeThe last fixtures of the league season were played out this weekend. It hasn't been the most successful of seasons results wise for the combined Amersham Hill / The Lee 2nd XI, but we have had great fun, and made lots of new friends. There have been lots of different players involved, and some great individual performances with bat and ball. Many thanks go out to Ron and the guys from Amersham for helping to make it happen.

12 Jul 2017 : Lee Flower Show and Twenty-20 game

Hi everyone,

The Lee Flower Show is taking place this Saturda Julyy 15th, and the marquee will be erected tomorrow, so there is no cricket at the ground this weekend...

However, this Friday 14th we are playing a Twenty-20 game against our good friends the Little Missenden Misfits, at their ground, starting at 6pm. There will be a bar and barbecue, and we will have some of our kwik-cricket gear for the kids to play whilst the game is progressing. There is plenty of parking space, so please come along and support the teams.

The Misfits ground is on a sharp right hand corner on the road leading out of Little Missenden towards Holmer Green..

Hope to see you there

Patrick

09 Jun 2017 : Starting at 1pm - Meet 12.30

Hello all,

Just wanted to touch base to say I got the start time wrong on Sunday. It's a 1 pm start so if we could all meet at 12.30 that would be great. Do let me know ASAP if that's going to be an issue for you.

Cheers

York

21 May 2017 : Vice-President John Glanfield

Dear The Lee Cricket Club Members

It is with great sadness that I am writing to you today.

Overnight Friday/Saturday our long standing vice-president, supporter and friend, John Glanfield passed away in St Francis Hospice in Berkhamstead.

John will be greatly missed by all in the local community and The Lee Cricket Club. Today (Sunday) we are holding a small, respectful tribute to him before the friendly at home against Old Berkeley (based in Aylesbury Marsh). We have asked Jon Swain (longstanding resident and friend of John) to say a few words before we hold a minutes silence and then minutes applause. All players (including Old Berkeley) will be wearing black armbands out of respect for the entirety of the game.

If anyone who knew him wishes to join us for this tribute please feel free to join us. This tribute will be made at 14:00 right at the start of the game so if you wish to join us then we would be happy to see you from 13:45 onwards.

As a club we have asked for Jon Swain to also write a few words about John and his connection with our club, Jon has requested some time to do this so this will follow in a separate email in the coming days.

With great sadness

The Lee Cricket Club Committee

29 Mar 2017 : Membership Renewals 2017

All

The 2017 season is almost upon us, and it is time to renew memberships at The Lee.

This year we have simplified our membership structure slightly, and are introducing a new secure online payment system that is operated through our website.

The new membership structure is:

  • £80 - for Family membership with one player (junior or adult)

  • £20 - for each additional player in the family (under 21)

  • £50 - for single membership 16-21 year olds (or still in full time education)

  • £10 - for family social membership (with no players)

Payment can be made through the 'My Payments' section on the club website. This uses the secure 'GoCardless' payments service to direct debit from your bank account. You will be informed by email before any amount is debited this takes upto 5 working days after you have processed your payment via our website.

Setting up is simple - the instructions are on the website here - https://theleecc.secure-club.com/pages/page_32339/New-Membership-Procedure.aspx?edit=true

If you are renewing membership from last year, there is no need to fill in a form - just go onto the website and click on the ‘My Profile’ and then 'My Payments' section, set up your details and then just select the appropriate payment category.

Once you have made your payment, please email our new membership secretary, York Woodford-Smith at yorkaws@gmail.com, to confirm that you have done so, and if you have paid for multiple players, the names of all those you have paid for.

Note that in the My Profile section you can also update your email, phone and address details, and even add a picture of yourself if you like and don’t forget to mark your availability for the year. If you enter dates when you are definitely not available due to holidays etc., it will make the selection process much easier for the captains.

If you need a reminder of your user-id or password, please let York or I know.

Hopefully, this new process will simplify and speed up the renewal process for everyone.

If you know of any individuals or families who wish to join for the first time, then please put them in contact with myself or York and we can send them a membership form to complete.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Best regards

Patrick

16 Jan 2017 : New Committee Members required!

Dear members,

Our AGM is fast approaching (Wednesday 8th February at 7:45pm), and a number of long standing committee members have indicated their desire to stand down, having given many years of dedicated service between them.

As you all know, the club is entirely dependent on volunteers to manage the facilities, the teams, the coaching, the membership lists and the finances. All of the committee roles are fundamental to the success of the club, and we need some more of you to step forward and take on these new challenges.

The specific roles we expect to need to fill are:

Treasurer – Michelle Yeabsley has been doing this key role for a number of years. The primary responsibilities are managing the club’s bank accounts, paying bills, organising cash floats, banking takings and preparing the annual accounts. Michelle has offered to train up her successor over the start of the season, so it would be a gradual hand over. This role would suit someone with an accounting or book-keeping knowledge.

Head of Junior Cricket (Friday nights) – Sue Bishop has been doing this role for the last five years. Going forward we intend to change the role slightly – Rachel Harris (our bar and pavilion manager) will organise the bar and barbecue rotas, so the new Head of Junior Cricket will focus on organising the coaches and coaching groups. This role would suit someone who understands the principles of kwik-cricket, and coaching youngsters, and may require a short training course from the Bucks Cricket Board.

Membership Secretary – Julie Line has been performing this role for a few years, and it involves receiving all of the completed membership forms, and registering the details on our club database. It also involves chasing up members during the season to make sure all subs are collected. We are going to be using the facilities of the website much more this season, so this role would suit someone used to working with websites and databases.

Head of Colts Cricket – This role has been filled by Martin Price, and involves overseeing the hardball coaching for Under 10s-Under 15s on Saturday mornings, supporting the coaches for each age group and ensuring that the colts fixtures (from mid May to mid July are properly scheduled and organised. Martin will do a handover during the season.

Club Welfare Officer – This role, which has been filled by Sue Bishop, involves ensuring that the club’s policies and practices remain up to date and in line with legislation and ECB guidelines, and ensuring that our coaches have appropriate certification. It will involve attending a course run by the Bucks Cricket Board, usually for one or two evenings every couple of years.

Club Secretary – This role has been vacant for a number of years, but really should be filled. The primary responsibility is taking minutes of committee meetings and the AGM. We only have about half a dozen meetings a year, so it is not too onerous.

If you feel you could do any of these roles, or would like to know more or talk it through, then please contact me, or any of the existing committee members. This is your club, and it relies entirely on the voluntary efforts of its members, so please don’t be shy to get involved – you will enjoy it!

Best regards
