The Lee Cricket Club News story

Vice-President John Glanfield

21 May 2017

Dear The Lee Cricket Club Members

It is with great sadness that I am writing to you today.

Overnight Friday/Saturday our long standing vice-president, supporter and friend, John Glanfield passed away in St Francis Hospice in Berkhamstead.

John will be greatly missed by all in the local community and The Lee Cricket Club. Today (Sunday) we are holding a small, respectful tribute to him before the friendly at home against Old Berkeley (based in Aylesbury Marsh). We have asked Jon Swain (longstanding resident and friend of John) to say a few words before we hold a minutes silence and then minutes applause. All players (including Old Berkeley) will be wearing black armbands out of respect for the entirety of the game.

If anyone who knew him wishes to join us for this tribute please feel free to join us. This tribute will be made at 14:00 right at the start of the game so if you wish to join us then we would be happy to see you from 13:45 onwards.

As a club we have asked for Jon Swain to also write a few words about John and his connection with our club, Jon has requested some time to do this so this will follow in a separate email in the coming days.

With great sadness

The Lee Cricket Club Committee
