The Lee Cricket Club U11 X v Chenies & Latimer on Sun 07 Jul 2013 at 10:00
The Lee Cricket Club Won by 30 runs
Match report
The game took place on a scorching Sunday morning. Chenies won the toss and elected to put The Lee into bat first. Openers Killian and Harvey both played really well, with Killian getting to 13 before being bowled, and Harvey going on to retire not out on 30, including six fantastic boundaries. Despite a middle-order collapse, the batsmen lower down the order also set about hitting out, with more boundaries for Charlie, Henry and Isaac, taking the total up to a strong 108 for 8 from 20 overs.
Charlie and John were the opening bowlers, and they restricted the opposition to just a few singles. There was a flurry of wickets (for John, Harvey and Killian), before their two middle order batsmen started to assert themselves and hit a few boundaries - but both were soon bowled (by John and Finn), and then some great bowling and fielding forced another run out and a great stumping off Zach's bowling. After their 20 overs Chenies had managed to get to 78 for 7, meaning a comprehensive victory for The Lee by 30 runs.
A fantastic morning of cricket, with all the team making great contributions - and finishing in time to go and see Andy Murray win Wimbledon. What a day!
