• 282-6 Lee

• The team did the Lee CC proud, supporting each other, and showed great sportsmanship at the end of the game. Most importantly, they all enjoyed it and wanted to do more.

Analysis
• We scored 64 runs vs their 51 runs (+13 runs) [a lot more than the 19 in Game 1]
• We gave away 63 runs on wides/no balls, they did 54 runs (-9 runs) [not as well as the 39 in Game 1]
• We lost 6 wkts vs their 5 wkts (-6 runs) [Better than Game 1 we lost 7 wickets]
• This contributed overall to 2 run defeat. Our batting improved dramatically vs Game 1, but accuracy of bowling was not as good as Game 1.

Great work
1. Reece stoic batting not giving his wicket away. Good sprinting and pick up in the field and great bowling.
2. Ty for a classic boundary. Nearly got a caught and bowled, hit hard and high but got his hand to it but just couldn’t hold it. Good hands in the field.
3. Francesca in her first ever game she scored good runs (good calling) and was fearless in her bowling.
4. Jenson great fielding and some good runs. Very accurate bowling (only 1 wide)
5. Eddie 2nd highest run scorer, including 3 cracking boundaries. Good bowling to get a wicket.
6. Jenny good runs, especially facing one of their best bowlers, excellent fielding and calling in the field.
7. Daniel two great fours, and bowled only one wide. Good hands in the field
8. Oliver Binns – highest wicket taker with 2 wickets – amazing for a U8 player!
9. Charlie highest score of 18 runs, 1 wicket and only 1 wide. Covered a lot of ground in the field
10. Zach for his fantastic batting (3rd highest run scorer) and his wicket. Brilliant stop in the field – ball was moving very fast!

Areas to work on
Seems like lots to work on but they kids are improving every Friday!
• Bowling then stopping – a few are now doing this but most bowlers do not continue to run down wicket after releasing ball
• Not hitting wides – caught off a wide on at least 1 occasion. If you hit a wide ball, it won’t be given as a wide.
• Always backing up behind the stumps, or behind the 1st fielder in case they miss the ball (although this is improving)
• Run outs – they are now seeing the opportunity – just need to get the ball in quickly and ensure backing up at both ends.
• Bowling – being able to get it roughly on target and to pitch it on an 18 yard pitch
• Batting – score more runs
o we scored 64 runs off 120 balls total = 3.2 runs per over [1.4 in Game 1]
o we scored 64 runs off 94 balls that were not wides or wickets = 4.1 runs per good over [NB there is no extra ball for a wide, except in the last over] [2.2 in Game 1]
• We have only done one wicket keeping drill – let’s get some kids gloves and get kids to practice
• Calling – calling was sporadic – batters must call Yes or No clearly
