Match report Another victory for the Under 19 squad this season against Dinton!

Playing on a wicket which saw 800 runs scored on it at the weekend, Dinton won the toss and elected to bat. A wise decision based on the earlier sunset which caused some problems in the second innings...
Skipper Rob opened up from the 'Boakes End' and found not much luck with his first two overs which saw him quickly draft in leading wicket taker Sam. Henry held down his end and took another wicket bowling pies! Sam bowled tidily claiming a scalp of his own before being replaced by our supposed best player Ben Harris. Harris's balls found not much luck and the boundary on occasion, his wicketless spin performance saw the return of Ben Harris-the seam option. Again, he was not able to get amongst the wickets. With Henry's spell taking us through to the 8th, Rob looked to debutant Matt Rutherford who was playing his first game of cricket for 2 years! Matt bowled a superb spell of seam bowling claiming two wickets in the process. He ended up with figures of 2-22 from his alotment. Rob finished up from the 'Hutt End' by bowling some rank off spin with great success. He claimed a wicket with his first ball and went for not many runs. Dinton checked out with 131 from their 20...

In the spirit of the game youngsters Fraser and Jack opened the batting and got us off to a slow but steady start until they were both soon bowled. Henry and Luke on debut entered the crease. Henry swinged and missed at many a ball before finally middling one... straight to extra covers waiting hands! Luke hit some lusty blows including a power fade which almost killed Abdul and a huge bomb into the field to get off the mark! He was eventually caught after miss timing one in the slot. His ego was not damaged after getting out to a 14 year old however and despite skying one to third man, he was very humble in stating "I'm really f***ing good" in the changing room whilst taking his pads off. Ben was soon replaced at the crease by Rob after missing a straight on his pads. Rob and Sam guided us to within single figures putting on a 50 run partnership before Sam was bowled on 28. Enter MOTM Rutherford who despite not having played for 2 years, still had 'it'. After a few singles were exchanged between him and Rob, Matt's moment of glory finally arrived when he carved their opener to the third manboundary to take us above 131! Matt ended up on a heroic 6 not out whilst Rob enjoyed his 31 red.

Another thriller at the Manor Park with the latter stages of the game being played in darkness!
