The Lee Cricket Club 2nd XI v Penn & Tylers Green CC 2nd XI on Sat 01 May 2021 at 13:00
The Lee Cricket Club Won by 6 wickets
Match report
Through lockdown there’s been a lot of talk about tech advances taking over. You know, organisations such as OK Cupid that promise instant love. It’s been a major undertaking for The Lee to develop their own tech advancement but today we were going to unleash it.
Anyone looking for love should have come down to the ground. Bathed in sunlight, trees coming into bud and the sound of ball on willow made it a magical place. And after winning the toss, and inserting Penn, Nathan and Ed C bowled fine spells without reward. It was time for our weapon…
OK Cupit is similar to the famous namesake but promises instant wickets instead. Programmed to bowl from the Pavillion end, first ball he delivered a swinging delivery that turned out to be an instant match for the middle stump. Our tech weapon had worked, and The Lee 2’s were underway.
At the other end, Ed B bowled a fine spell, to a field that included 4 slips and a gully, before Ed C returned to blast out the middle order. Robin took 3 and Nathan returned to wrap it up.
Chasing 123, The Lee were soon in trouble at 21-3, with Penn’s young bowlers taking toll of our top order. But Neil knuckled down, with his new bat zinging balls through the offside, to make an unbeaten 50 and see us through to our first win of the season.
