The Lee Cricket Club News story

Cricket at The Lee in 2020

21 Mar 2020

Dear members,

I hope that you and your families are well in these challenging times.

The ECB (the governing body for cricket in England and Wales) have advised us this week that all cricket related activities are to be suspended until further notice. This includes adult and junior matches, nets and training sessions.

This means that we will be unable to complete our adult and junior winter net programmes, and will not be starting the season as planned in May. We have no indication yet of how long these restrictions will last, and we will be maintaining the ground in a state of readiness so that we can be ready to play once it is deemed safe to do so. Normally at this time of year we would be starting the process of collecting membership fees for the season ahead. Given the situation we won't be chasing for membership fees until we know when we will be able to play, and how much of the season we can salvage.

We have taken some measures to minimise our fixed costs, but the club does have overheads, and if any members would like to pay their membership fees for this year now (on a non-refundable basis), it would help to ensure the survival of the club. Please contact me if this is the case.

If anyone is aware of things that the cricket club could do to help the wider community during this crisis, then please let me know.

We will keep you posted when we hear more from the ECB, but in the meantime please keep safe.

Best regards
Patrick
