The Lee Cricket Club News story

Imagine if we played - The Lee vs West Wycombe - Simulated Game

19 Apr 2020

Hello all,

For a bit of fun, I thought I would put together an imaginary result for last Sundays game that never was. I hope you enjoy - York, Sunday Captain.

The Lee vs West Wycombe - Simulated Game - I created this game based on previous years, see the data HERE

After a soggy Saturday, play did not look likely. However, Sunday was glorious, the perfect day to start the cricket season.

Having spent a season without the captain's armband, I wanted to get my toss winning reputation back on track, however, I sadly lost the toss but happily, West Wycombe foolishly put us in to bat first.

Opening the batting Jim & Alex, with Jim laying on a solid 8 (Caught out in slips with a stunning juggled catch) while Alex gets going in his typical fashion, the bowlers did not know what hit them putting us at 56/1 after 6 overs. West Wycombe tightened up as the sun beat down on Manor Park. Mike put in a solid performance at No.3 going out to a controversial LBW by our Chairman... On came Jules who stuck around for the rest of the innings, putting together a mighty 103 partnership with Alex who is caught in Cow Corner attempting a big 6. A controversial moment when John came on only to be run out with a stunning direct hit going for a quick single, followed by a solid performance from, Ed, Rob & Harry (scoring 4 sixes & a four) before getting caught out. The innings was completed by Sam Harris scoring 9.

A formidable, but typical Lee batting performance put 299 on the board.

Harry & Ed Opened the bowling and spend the first 8 overs terrorising the batters, who didn't know what had hit them (must have been the dedication in the winter nets) scooping up 2 wickets each in the opening spell (including a stunning catch from Mike)

From then on it was inevitable, some fantastic bowling all around left West Wycombe all out for 162. Other highlights included a high catch from yours truly in a typical 'chesty' fashion, a great catch at gully by Jim and a cheeky run out thrown in by Sam.

Looking forward to the next game :-)

Thanks for taking a moment to read, hopefully, you enjoyed my made-up game, I am missing cricket and I hope we can all get back playing sometime this season.

Cheers
York

I created this game based on previous years, see the data HERE - it's amazing how even when the game is made up I still struggled with the batting order hahaha.
