Match report The match was played on a chilly Monday evening in Beaconsfield. This was originally scheduled as a league game, but Beaconsfield had to withdraw from the league due to a lack of U14 players, and for this friendly they put out a mixed team of U15s and U14s.
They elected to bat first and their tall U15 openers played some lovely shots to score 27 off the first 6 overs. They were looking well set until Matt clipped the top of off stump for our first wicket. Ben followed with a similar wicket in the next over and Rob took a great caught & bowled in the 13th. George then took a great catch off Freddie to get their powerful opener out for 42 and Felix bowled another in the last over, which helped to restrict Beaconsfield to 98.
Ben opened the batting for The Lee and went on to make a fabulous 34 until slapping one straight to mid-off. Unfortunately the cold and darkening conditions made it difficult for any of the other batsmen to pick up the ball, and Sam was the only one to register a boundary - a monster shot that just landed inside the boundary rope and went for four. Skipper Rob was injured by an incoming throw at stumps and had to retire hurt. We ended up all out for 78, twenty runs short of our target.
A frustrating result, but not a bad one against a team of mixed U15s and U14s.
