Match report This was a tight, low scoring game which had a very tense finish. We were put into bat by Holyport, and Steve Pain and Michael Cooper set off at a fair pace, with Michael hitting a lovely straight drive to lose the ball in the adjacent garden when it was only an over old. Our middle order collapsed and Jordan Essex helped to steady the ship a little, but ultimately we all fell for a below-par total of 147, leaving them 56 overs to bat. They made hard work of it, but slowly progressed towards their target. Their skipper, Paul Edwards, proved as obstinate to get out as ever, and he anchored their innings as other fell around him. With just two runs to win they were eight wickets down and Paul edged one behind, but keeper Michael Stark, diving at full stretch couldn't quite cling on to it. So, another narrow defeat down to one not being able to get one opposition batsman out.
