Match report The match was played on a beautifully bright and warm August day. Skipper Moyne won the toss and elected to bowl first. Accurate spells by Oliver, Jordan and Ganesh took out Phoenix's openers, reducing them to 19 for 3 early on. Their big hitting middle order didn't last too long, with Sparky and Moyne getting in amongst the wickets, and they were reduced to 174 all out from just 29.4 overs - leaving us 60 overs to make 175. After a rapid change around, Mike and Sparky opened the batting, and sensibly soaked up their opening overs, just failing to make a 50 partnership before Sparky was out for 20 just before tea. After the interval, Mike moved up to 47 before being caught, but sensible batting from Mikey Cooper (30), Steve Pain (11) and Michael Stark (30) saw us edge towards the 175 target. There was a brief moment of panic when Michel was bowled with just three runs required, but skipper Moyne soon stroked a boundary to seal a memorable victory. So the 2s excellent form over the last couple of months has continued - with just one defeat since mid June. Well done chaps - keep it going!
