The Lee Cricket Club Sun XI v West Wycombe on Sun 28 Apr 2019 at 13:30
The Lee Cricket Club Won The Lee won by 219 runs
Match report
The Lee won the toss and batted, against a depleted West Wycombe, who had ten only, through illness. I am grateful to the fielders who acted as sub for them.
A responsible and accomplished 113 from promising youngster Alex Morgan meant that The Lee posted a challenging total. Harry Hutt, Rob Walsh, Mike Harris and York W-Smith played excellent supporting roles, with Sam Harris showing much promise. Jim Cook failed to live up to his hype, and ‘smashed’ a slow high full toss to the keeper... He was lost for words... for at least 1 minute.
After a sumptuous tea, kindly prepared by Clare Walsh, West Wycombe had no answer to the bowlers of The Lee. Hostile fast bowling from Harry Hutt put them on the back foot, and each bowling change brought about instant success for the new bowler. The catches were held, and a swift demise followed, with time to discuss the events over a few pints of excellent beer.
Well done everybody, continuing our fine start to the season!
