Emmbrook & Bearwood 2nd XI v The Lee Cricket Club 2nd XI on Sat 05 Sep 2020 at 13:00
The Lee Cricket Club Lost by 57 runs

Match report Those of you of a certain age (relics) will recall Wasim and Waqar bowling vicious inswinging yorkers to win Pakistan Test matches. Could The Lee today find it's very own yorker specialist?

We won the toss, inserted E&B and were treated to an excellent opening spell by Jordan and David, with the latter picking up 2 good early wickets. Spells from Oli and Guy backed up the good work, but E&B found a batsman we couldn't dislodge and the game started to move away from us.
Personally I've always enjoyed bowling, and the umpire has enjoyed it too. They've generally shown their appreciation by waving one or sometimes both arms outstretched, holding their head in their hands, making strange cackling sounds and inviting me to bowl extra balls so their enjoyment can continue. It saddens me how few bowlers are able to entertain like this. So we were delighted when the always reliable Moiny started his spell and bowled a brutal yorker right at the feet. Not quite Waqar like. Not quite Wasim like. This was bowled at his own feet. Again and again he pounded those unfortunate digits, umpire Pat's arms gratifyingly shooting out like some demented marionette until finally we reached the end of the over. But this weeks hero could not be ignored and in the very next over when the ball was smashed to mid-on, those hands, so unwilling to release the ball grasped the opportunity to take a stunning catch. Moiny's bowling recovered, David came back for another spell and took 3 wickets for the first time. Only 2 more in an innings David and we find out if your Dad has a wallet. There was just enough time for Neil to take a stunning legside catch and so we were chasing 202: probably 40 more than ideal.
And we batted. Or at least Neil batted. The rest of us gave it away but Neil's 50 gave us respectability. Guy managed to pull a groin (surely she won't fall for that one again Guy), and so we move on to the last league game of the season at Penn and Tylers.
