Match report It wasn't a great start; we arrived at E&B to be welcomed by heavy rain and a nearby house alarm that had a mind of it's own. But we managed to win the toss, the alarm ceased and as Mistle thrushes fed their young on the outfield we started on time. But the alarms continued for E&B as Jordan and Jack bowled a great opening spell with straight lines that gave us 2 bowled and 1 lbw. And when Guy and Ollie claimed another 2 wickets each we thought we were through the batting that we'd found so impenetrable last year. But E&B's 7th wicket partnership stood between us and batted beautifully. We needed a plan and Sparky stepped forward. Using all of his first team knowledge to bowl slow bouncers into the middle of the pitch, we watched a succession pull shots deposit balls on the railway line. 'This is the last spare' came the plaintive cry from the boundary and we knew there could be no more leg side hits. Forced to play shots on the off side, Jack caught a screamer and Ollie did what he does best collecting yet another 5fer.
Our innings didn't get off to the greatest start. Marcus learnt more about the skipper's erratic running, we managed to get some runs on the board before E&B's best bowlers were on and then settled down to watch the Sam and Neil show. They stuck through some excellent bowling before the change bowlers came on and suddenly we were away. Neil's broad blade ensured there were no concerns, before Sam got his half century, ending up on 73no, the last 28 runs coming off 15 balls.
So another win for The Lee 2's, sitting joint top of the league, and looking forward to welcoming Little Marlow next week.
